Hunter Valley, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA
$34. 99
Bottle
$419.88 Dozen
Cellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2021-2029)
ABV: 10.5%
Closure: Stelvin
Brilliant very pale straw colour with highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Lifted aromas of lemon, green apple, lime and wet steel have an oily toast like overlay followed by some flinty end notes. Focused lime, green apple and citrus fruits show excellent intensity underscored by notions of wet steel, oily toast like characters, lemon butter and gun flint. Dry racy finish with crisp, edgy acidity and a long precise aftertaste that has a taut feel to it.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 10.5%

The vines in the HVD vineyard were planted in 1908 and form the ‘Sign Post Block. The wine is floral fruit in youth, which moves towards biscuity characters with age. The palate is generally softer bodied with smoother acids than the Vat 1 and Belford Semillons.

Other Reviews….
This wine is only sourced from the vineyard planted by the Hunter Valley Distillery in 1908 on very sandy soil, the legacy of creek beds countless years before. It's stacked with flavour to the point of space invasion, and doesn't need more time for muscle building. Drink by 2025.

HVD is an amazing site. If you visit it, I’d suggest wearing thongs and a nice hat to fully enjoy the experience. Lemon juicy, almost white peppery aromatics. It presents delicate flavour, with some real lemonade flavour, light chalkiness in texure, and a powdery and pleasantly herb laced finish. Drink by 2028.
