Brilliant very pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Nosing reveals scents of green apple and lime which have a gun flint overlay. Oily toast like notes and spice also make an appearance. Focused and tense in its feel, tightly knit flavours of lime, granny smith apple and lemon are backed by steely acidity. Slatey mineral back drop finishing dry and crisp with an austere aftertaste that has some lingering oily toast like characters to it.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 11%

A single vineyard wine from the Elliott family’s vineyard in Belford, which is leased by Tyrrell’s and is located about 10km northwest of the winery. The vineyard is dry grown and was planted in 1933. Being the vineyard that is furthest away from the Brokenback range it has the most broken down soil, which is so fine it is almost like talcum powder.

Other Reviews....
Not one of the strongest releases of Belford, but still a good wine. Quiet aromatics, lies a bit flat without the line of the other 2015 Tyrrell’s Sems. Light honeyed character, slight grubbiness to the flavour, and some lemony acid bite on the finish. Somewhat dilute, but tasted better after 24 hours grace. May surprise with time in bottle. Drink by 2025.
