Impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Potent aromas of ripe blackberry, black plum, liquorice and dark chocolate intoxicate the senses with toasty vanillin oak, earthy mocha, subtle boot leather and spice notes adding further interest. Pure decadence in a glass, voluptuous blackberry, liquorice and black plum fruits saturate every inch of the palate. Enormously rich, concentrated and densely textured, toasty vanillin oak, dark chocolate, scorched earth, mocha and cinnamon spice elements ensue. Exceptionally polished tannins buffer the lavish fruits and have a velvet smooth feel yet also provide underlying muscle. Magnificent power and breadth with a stupendously long and opulent finish.
Cellar 8-10 years to allow the oak to fully integrate.
Alc. 15%
Torbreck's 2015 The Laird boasts explosive aromas of Christmas spices, ripe plums, vanilla, hickory smoke and maple syrup. It's a big wine, loaded with fruit and oak, full-bodied, rich and velvety, adding hints of toasted coconut and cinnamon streusel on the long, almost dessert-like finish. For a more savory experience, age it a decade or so before pulling a cork. Drink 2020-2040.
