2015 The Ninth Mile Stanley Pinot Noir

Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. Semi translucent bright dark red colour with black tinges around the edges and a crimson red hue. Very fruit driven nose with aromatics of ripe dark cherries, raspberries and strawberry liqueur like scents prevalent over a hint of anise and spicy oak. The palate possesses abundant richness and power, however, it’s a bit simple and lacks some varietal character – in fact it could be mistaken for a juicy Grenache given its succulent flavour profile. Very youthful it’s driven by primary fruit flavours of very ripe cherries, strawberry jam and raspberry jubes with underlying anise and spicy oak. Bright finish with very finely grained tannins. Long aftertaste of dark raspberries, strawberry jam, plum and spicy oak. A big, very ripe sweetly fruited Pinot.
