2015 Spence Chardonnay

Bright straw colour with a faint glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Lifted ripe peach and dried honey aromas intermingle with citrusy nougat, toasty oak and spice notes. Medium to full in body with good richness, fleshy ripe peach and dried honey flavours overlay citrusy nougat characters, lightly toasted oak and spice. Finishes dry with good freshness and a moderate creaminess. Spicy aftertaste of ripe peaches, dried honey, toasty oak and citrusy nougat.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Estate-grown biodynamically, hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed to French oak (20% new), wild-fermented, matured for 10 months on lees, no stirring. Gold medal Geelong Wine Show ?16. An incisive chardonnay, brilliantly cut in the fashion of a diamond, with zesty grapefruit (skin, pith and juice) driving the palate through to the finish without so much as a side glance. Polarising at gold medal level. Needs time. Drink by 2023.
