2015 Signatory Vintage Ben Nevis 9 Year Old 100 Proof Edition #41 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
"...a compelling bottle, considering the price." - whiskybase.com
A sampling of online reviews paints a picture of another bargain-buy in the 100 Proof series. The precocious colour suggests very active first-fill oloroso butts, while the whisky is reported to deliver a positive sherry profile supported by well integrated alcohol, showcasing that distinctive waxy, meaty Highland character alongside the sherried richness. A good splash of water opens it up beautifully. Landing at a very attractive price tag, you can't go wrong. 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... A rather interesting and enjoyable version Ben Nevis. Abit of a chameleon malt as it is heavily influenced by the sherry cask. Neat it is a sherry bomb - fruit, tannic, warm, spicey with the oaky influenced finish. With water and time in the air, the whisky reveals it’s well known and lovely distillery character, waxy, meaty, peat and smoky. - whiskybase.com
...After my strong debut in the 100 proof series (Bunnahabhain #7), I'm also quite impressed with this one from Ben Nevis. It's a compelling bottle, considering the price. While slightly modern in its structure, it somehow manages to blend well. It's nice that it doesn't come across as obnoxiously sweet, but instead evokes the atmosphere of an old British saloon. A few more years of maturation, and I'd be raving about it. - whiskybase.com
