2015 Sidewood Mappinga Shiraz

This wine underwent partial whole bunch fermentation and was matured for 18 months in French oak, 35% of which was new. Totally opaque midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Dark plummy cherry scents intermix with nail polish like characters, some vanillin oak also apparent. The palate seemingly stripped of its primary fruit finishes dry and hard with sharp volatile acidity. Chewy tannins and short aftertaste.

Shares the striking bouquet of its Estate sibling, and follows on the bulkier '13 which won a trophy at the Decanter Wine Awards (no '14 was released). It has a spicy/juicy palate with a carpet of red fruits framed by fine-spun tannins. Classy wine. Drink by 2032.
