Rocche Costamagna is located in the centre of La Morra and has been owned by the Costamagna family since 1841. The wine was matured in French oak barriques for 12 months. Totally opaque black purple colour with a bright purple hue. Freshly crushed berry aromas laced with a hint of liquorice are followed by some vanillin cedar, a touch of inky earth like characters and spice. Light to medium weight with an energetic youthfulness and good fruit richness the palate dishes up flavours of crushed ripe dark cherries and plums which overlay some inkiness, earth and spice. Bright finish with slightly dryish but otherwise well integrated tannins. Aftertaste of freshly crushed dark cherries and plum, inky earth and spice. A fresh youthful Barbera with abundant fruit.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc 14%

Other Reviews...
Typical, young barbera with plum and dark-berry character. Medium to full body, good fruit and a fresh finish. Outstanding character. Drink now.
