2015 Plantagenet Lancaster Shiraz
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Lifted black cherry and liquorice aromas intermingle with smoky vanillin cedar and black olive ending with blackpepper notes. Elegant, medium bodied palate with blackberry and liquorice flavours melding into lightly smoked vanillin oak, a touch of earthy dried meats and blackpepper. Relatively tightly knit with a dryish finish and fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of blackberries, liquorice, earthy dried meats, subtlety smoked vanillin cedar and pepper.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
45+yo vines, whole berries fermented with cultured yeast in open and Potter fermenters, 14 days on skins, matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). In very different style to its Three Lions sibling, slightly lighter colour, lower alcohol, lighter-bodied, more elegant, more aromatic. It also carries its new French oak well, with total integration just around the corner. Drink by 2032.
