Established in 1836, Annandale Distillery has lasted nearly two centuries, had three generations of whisky ownership and a ninety-year hiatus where it was used in porridge production and the housing of livestock. Now in its fourth whisky era under the stewardship of Prof. David Thomson and Teresa Church, Annandale has been restored for generations to come. Influenced by methods encouraged by the late whisky legend, Dr. Jim Swan, peated and unpeated malts are currently produced - a reflection of the Lowlands’ peated whisky past, and its modern reputation as a region for softer, lighter styles. Both variants were acclaimed in Jim Murray’s 2019 & 2020 Whisky Bibles, with a 2015 peated cask receiving the accolade of ‘Best Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 10 Years and Under’. While x-Bourbon / American oak remains first choice at the distillery, this 'experimental' 2015 bottling from North Star was filled into an oloroso sherry butt yielding a total of 458 bottles. 54.9% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Plum Belgian loaf with extra treacle. Palate: Cinnamon soup with pink peppercorn croutons. Finish: Treacle sorbet with a pickled ginger dusting.
