Aged in 300 litre French oak hogshead barrels for 18 months. Impenetrable black dark red core with a deep dark red hue. Intense ripe blackcurrant aromas compete with liquorice and dark chocolate for attention followed by vanillin cedar, earth and spearmint notes. Rich blackcurrant and chocolatey vanillin oak flavours have a plush feel, subtle earth, dried herb and traces of eucalypt lurk beneath. Excellent volume and concentration, velvety tannins and a long opulent aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Abstemious yields across an organic certified vineyard, have deemed apt concentration; the choice of well coopered French oak (18 months), detail, a fleck of cedar and focus. The fruit, ferrous and free-flowing, serves as a beam of blackcurrant, blueberry, graphite, olive and a potpourri of herb and leaf across the finish. The tannins are shapely and moreish; svelte for cabernet, and daubed in sage. The oak rises across the finish auguring for a long future ahead, yet there is nothing obtuse. This is exceptional Coonawarra. Drink by 2032.
