2015 Hill Smith Estate Eden Valley Chardonnay

This Eden Valley Chardonnay underwent a natural wild yeast ferment and was matured in French oak barriques for 11 months. Brilliant very pale straw colour with a distinctive greenish tinge around the outskirts and a watery hue. Scents of nectarine, touches of white peach and citrus are overlaid by some smoky gun flint like characters with subtle biscuity oak and spice ensuing. Elegant with an understated richness and refined mouthfeel the palate dishes up flavours of nectarine and citrus laced with dried honey over some struck match stick characters, smoky cedar and flinty mineral. Clean dry finish with good freshness and a long aftertaste of nectarines, white peaches, dried honey, gun flint and subtle smoky cedar.
