2015 Greenstone Estate Series Heathcote Shiraz

Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Lifted blackberry and liquorice aromas are overlaid by hints of black olive and vanillin cedar with black pepper end notes. Medium to full bodied the palate is generously flavoured with rich blackberry and liquorice fruit which is underpinned by dark chocolate, vanillin oak, subtle earth and spicy pepper. Ripe opulent feel with sturdy tannins. Concludes with a medium to long aftertaste that’s gently laced with pepper.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

The price is almost into double-take territory. You get volume and you get complexity, the finish then an example of finesse. It tastes of blue and black berries, uses reduction to its advantage, shows clove, leather and wood smoke complexity, and pushes towards a sure-footed conclusion. There's no real reason to wait, the oak just-now integrated, but certainly it will age well. Drink by 2027.
