2015 Fraser Gallop Parterre Chardonnay

The Parterre Chardonnay has been made from 100% Gin-Gin clone, which Fraser Gallop feels produces fruit with higher acidity, and more intensity of flavour with later ripening. This also allows for picking at slightly lower Baume, resulting in a wine with finer structure and less alcohol. Winemaking techniques employed include whole bunch press, wild yeast fermentation and maturation in barrel for 10 months.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a greenish tinge around the outskirts and a watery hue. Elevated aromas of white peaches and ripe nectarines laced with subtle dried honey and struck matchstick characters drift out of the glass followed by some light toast and spice. Fresh and elegant but showing good underlying concentration the palate features flavours of delicate white peaches, nectarines and citrus subtlety infused with flinty struck match stick characters with light roasted cashew and mineral ensuing. Clean dry finish with bright acidity and a faint creaminess to the otherwise fresh textural feel. Excellent length with a long aftertaste of nectarines, citrus, struck matchstick infusions, faint roasted nut characters and flinty mineral.
