2015 Frankland Estate Shiraz
Totally opaque black dark red core with a bright dark red hue. Showing good aromatic lift the nose offers up scents of spicy dark cherries, blueberries and a hint of liquorice over some meatiness, vanillin cedar and pepper. Medium to full bodied the palate possesses juicy dark cherry, blackberry and liquorice flavours infused with smoky vanillin cedar, dried meats and spicy pepper. Meaty textural feel with slightly chewy tannins and a youthful vibrancy to the finish. Long peppery aftertaste of spicy ripe dark cherries, blackberries, subtle liquorice, dried meats and smoky vanillin cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Bright, full crimson-purple; the variety and the terroir seek to impose each one's stamp over the other, both failing in their attempt, the perfect win-win outcome. Blackberry fruit, spice and black pepper lead the way on the bouquet and medium-bodied palate alike, French oak (subtle) and tannins (ripe, but fine) completing a great portrait of cool-grown shiraz. Drink by 2035.
