Brett Grocke is a 5th generation Barossan whose family have farmed and owned vineyards since the mid 1850’s. His day job is in viticulture managing around 14 vineyards across the Barossa and Eden Valleys and having just built a 50 tonne winery at Krondorf his hands are also full as a winemaker. Sourced from the Magnolia Road vineyard which includes plantings from 1965, 1996 and 2010 with only the best barrels from these three blocks selected for the final blend. Maturation takes place in French oak for 19 months.

An exceptionally rich Barossa Shiraz with Herculean power and superb underlying structure.

Magnificent saturated inky black dark purple colour with a deep very dark purple hue. Intense ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas rise out of the glass followed by hints of dark chocolate, vanillin oak, subtle scorched earth and spice. Decadently rich, a blast of opulently textured ripe blackberries, liquorice, black cherries and dark plum cascade across the palate lingering long into the finish. Underneath this mass of richness are nuances of spicy vanillin oak, a touch of earthiness and spicy pepper. Holding everything together is a robust tannin structure which provides some grip on the back palate. Incredibly powerful concluding with an exceptionally long ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice, vanillin oak, subtle earth and spicy pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
