For 124 years, five generations of the Bujanda family have produced some of the finest wines from Rioja. It was Joaquín Martínez Bujanda who started the company with 10 hectares of vines in Rioja Alavasa and over the years the estate has expanded to include vineyards across the region.
A blend of 79% Tempranillo, 13% Garnacha, 5% Graciano and 3% Maturan matured in a combination of American oak (65%) and French oak (35%) barrels for a period of 19 months. Deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Elevated black cherry and liquorice aromas are complimented by earth, vanillin oak, leather and spice notes. Layered across the medium to full bodied palate are rich black cherry and liquorice fruits which are backed by ripe chewy tannins. Vanillin cedar, earth and spicy leather elements linger through the back half. Fleshy yet slightly dryish mid length conclusion.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews…..
This deep-hued wine has a bouquet of black currant, milk chocolate and caramel. Velvety tannins and vibrant acidity lay the groundwork for black cherry, Mission fig, butterscotch, clove and black olive tapenade flavors. Dark berries, chocolate and caramel linger on the palate.
