2015 Chionetti San Luigi Dogliani

The Chionetti family has been producing some of the greatest Dolcetto made in Italy since 1918 when Quinto’s grandfather founded the estate. This Dolcetto has a totally opaque black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Inky dark plum and liquorice aromas meld with infusions of fresh herbs, earthy vanillin cedar and spice. Rich juicy dark plum and liquorice flavours are backed by firm, structured and drying tannins which provides the finish with some grip and rusticity. Inky earth, leather and spice characters are also present. Tight knit feel with fresh youthful acidity and a dry, grippy inky earth like aftertaste.

. The 2015 Dogliani San Luigi packs a serious punch, with a huge core of dark red cherry and plum fruit, matched by intense tannins that need time to soften. Raspberry jam, smoke, leather, cedar and incense meld into the creamy, expressive finish. This is impressive stuff. Drink 2017-2025.
