2015 Chateau de Cedre Cahors
A blend of 90% Malbec, 5% Merlot and 5% Tannat. Aged for 18 months in oak. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright dark red hue. Aromas of blackcurrant are complimented by liquorice and subtle leather notes with some earthy dried herbs and spice also evident. Medium bodied, elegant and quite smooth on entry the palate has flavours of blackcurrant infused with black olive which meld into earthy cedar, leather and spicy dried herb elements. Dryish tannins firm up the finish a touch. Medium length aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
Dominated by 90% Malbec, this is the main estate wine of this producer. Its tannins are there, although they are relatively smooth and certainly balanced by the great black fruits. The wine is still young. Drink from 2020.
