2014 Wirra Wirra RSW Shiraz
Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Pronounced blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas rise from the glass with an undercurrent of lightly toasted vanillin cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied with juicy fruit but an inky restrained mouthfeel, the palate dishes up generous flavours of inky blackberries, liquorice and dark plums over some vanillin cedar, subtle dried meats and spice. A sturdy robust tannin structure bodes well for the long haul. Tightly built with a long aftertaste of inky blackberries, dark plums, liquorice, vanillin cedar, dried meats and spice.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 14.5%
Other Reviews….
The continued refinement of the flagship wines from Wirra Wirra is evident in the '14 RSW. Darkly coloured and darkly fruited, the palate is finely poised with grainy, slatey tannins saturated in blackberry-laden fruit, the finish long, savoury and extremely fine. Drink by 2038.
