2014 Warrabilla Reserve Shiraz

This Shiraz is quite timid by Warrabilla standards. Opaque black dark purple colour with a bright purple hue. The nose displays aromas of dark plums, fresh dark cherries and liquorice over a background of cedar and spicy dried herbs. Lighter and fresher than expected, this is a real divergence from the traditional Warrabilla style. Palate flavours of dark plums and dark cherries are followed by a touch of liquorice, vanillin cedar and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, dark plums, subtle liquorice and spicy vanillin cedar. Warrabilla aptly describe this wine as ‘the prettiest and most feminine Shiraz we’ve made to date’. We’d have to agree, whilst it’s a nice wine it’s not the big monstrous style of Shiraz that we’ve come to expect from Warrabilla.
