2014 Rymill Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a very dark brick red black tinged hue, showing some signs of advanced development. The nose displays aromas of stewed blackcurrant and tobacco leaf over stalky cedar, black olive and dried herbs. Medium weight with a feeling of austerity, flavours of blackcurrant, black olive, tobacco leaf and spicy dried herbs fade out to leave old cedar on a dry, slightly bitter finish that has firm, chalky tannins and bright acidity. Moderate tobacco leaf, dried herb, spicy old cedar and dusty earth aftertaste.

Other Reviews…
It's archetypal Coonawarra cabernet, but it's not without individuality. Loads of varietal and regional character on the bouquet, with blackcurrant, mint, tobacco and cedar all present, but underscored by an earthy, old world-like savouriness. While the depth and dimension is there, it just needs time for the tannins to soften and all the elements to integrate. Plenty of potential. Drink by 2030.
