2014 Round Two Barossa Valley Shiraz

Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Lifted top notes of ripe plum and liquorice dominate the nose followed by some dark chocolate, vanillin oak and a hint of spice. Rich and medium to full bodied with a slippery plush textural feel the palate opens with ripe plummy liquorice flavours over some dark chocolate with a good dollop of vanillin oak following up the rear and lingering onto the finish. Soft acidity and velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of vanillin oak, plummy liquorice and dark chocolate. The vanillin oak component is too prominent, particularly on the aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
