2014 Quarisa Johnny Q Shiraz

South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$10. 99
Bottle
$131.88 Dozen
Cellar: Drink now - 3 Years (2017-2020)
ABV: 14.5%
Closure: Stelvin

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black hue. Lifted aromas of liquorice and ripe blackberries are overlaid by smoky oak with some meaty pepper end notes. The palate possesses excellent richness and concentration for its price, however, as the case has been for recent vintages there is once again a prominent smoky oak component. Generous liquorice and ripe blackberry flavours are infused with smoky vanillin oak followed by some spice. Soft velvet like tannins. Aftertaste of spicy ripe blackberries, liquorice and smoky vanillin oak.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews….
From Coonawarra and Padthaway, fermented in various vessels, including oak, all portions matured in oak. Quarisa has done it all before, and will (hopefully) do it again and again. Poured blind, you’d work out the Limestone Coast origin, but not the $12 price tag. This is a very impressive medium-bodied shiraz, decant and pour for royalty. Drink by 2020.
