91% cabernet sauvignon, 6% malbec, 3% petit verdot. 18 months in 100% new French oak. 96 dozen made. It's a vinous example of pure silk. It's the job of the wine writer to taste, spit and repeat, but one sip of this and the process quickly became muddled. It's a wine to put other wines in context. It has a freshness and a perfume to its herb notes and a gentleness to its redcurrant and kirsch-like flavours. It glides through the palate like a waft of smoke, the fruit ripe and pure. It's almost pinot-like in its ease, its undergrowth, its succulent power. Drink by 2030.
