2014 Paul Nelson P.N. Grenache Mourvedre Tempranillo
Opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Lifted dark raspberry, liquorice and dark chocolate aromas are followed by vanillin cedar, subtle earth and spice notes. Medium to full bodied with a plush feel, rich blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice flavours show excellent intensity melding into vanillin oak and spicy earth. Slightly chewy but ripe tannins. Good depth with a long blackberry, dark chocolate, earthy vanillin cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews…
While grenache (60%) leads the charge, 20% each for the other varieties, this has morphed into a harmonious wine and damn good drink. It has vibrant fruit and spice stamped all over it from raspberries, red berries to musk, Middle Eastern fragrances and sopressa salami. Savoury ripe tannins, fine acidity and everything on song. Drink by 2023.
