Excellent depth of colour featuring a black core and a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced blackcurrant and ripe mulberry aromas infused with cigar box sail through the nostrils followed by scorched earth, black olive, dried herb and spice notes. Full in body, rich blackcurrant flavours engulf the mouth underpinned by liquorice, cigar box, scorched earth and spicy dried herbs. Superb fruit concentration backed by sturdy, slightly grainy tannins which provide great structure for the long haul. Concludes long and very powerful.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%
Only small amounts of wine are made from vines planted in '76 for the government-owned Bramley Research Station. A very elegant and balanced wine, made with reverence and great skill since Mandoon acquired and rejuvenated the very run-down vineyard. This will have cassis dribbling down your fingers if you don't pay attention. Drink by 2044.
