2014 Katnook Prodigy Shiraz

Matured for 36 months in a combination of American (82%) and French (18%) oak barriques of which 36% were new. Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep very dark red hue. Potent dark plum, liquorice and blackberry scents are overlaid by toasty vanillin oak with elements of earth, subtle leather and spicy mocha also apparent. Rich and lush with dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruit to the fore followed by a slathering of toasty vanillin oak on the back palate. Elements of earth, old leather and spicy mocha are also evident. Velvet like tannins with a very smooth mid palate feel and balanced acidity. Concludes long with a sense of elegance.
