2014 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Chardonnay

Barrel fermented and matured for 14 months in approximately 80% French and 20% American oak barriques of which 60% were new. Brilliant straw colour with a pale straw hue. The nose shows great intensity with aromas of honeyed peaches, honeycomb and butterscotch biscuit followed by nougat and spice. Rich and full bodied the palate has generous flavours of ripe peaches, honeycomb and light butterscotch biscuit overlaid by a strong toasty oak component with some roasted almonds and spice on the back palate. Dry finish with good fresh acidity offsetting the rich, moderately creamy mouthfeel. Long aftertaste of roasted almonds, honeycomb, toasted oak and spice.
