2014 Hither & Yon Monastrell

This excellent example of Monastrell (better known as Mataro or Mourvedre) was predominately matured in tank with 20% of the wine being matured in 2-3 year old French oak puncheons.

Opaque dark purple black colour with a dark purple hue. Aromas of ripe black cherries are interlaced with some anise followed by an earthy meatiness and spice. Medium to full bodied in weight the palate has rich succulent fruit flavours of black cherries and liquorice over a back palate of earthy leather and spice with a slight chewiness imparted towards the finish. Slightly dryish but fine grained tannins show some grip. Aftertaste of ripe black cherries, liquorice, earthy leather and spice.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
