2013 Woodstock Collett Lane Cabernet Sauvignon

Excellent colour featuring an inky black core and deep dark red black hue. Pronounced ripe blackcurrant and liquorice aromas waft out of the glass followed by vanillin cedar, hints of mocha and spice. Big opulent palate with rich mouthfilling flavours of cassis, liquorice and dark chocolate running over vanillin oak and spicy mocha. A sturdy set of tannins appears velvet like beneath the seductively rich fruit. Excellent depth with a long cassis, liquorice, dark chocolate and spicy vanillin cedar aftertaste. A rich bold McLaren Vale Cabernet.

Deep colour; tasted 15 months prior to its release in Apr '16, it is a very good cabernet in the making, all its components in balance: potent cassis fruit, firm, but not dry, tannins, and good oak. No hesitation in giving it gold medal points, for its balance and freshness ensure its long term future. Drink by 2038.
