Proprietors, David and Heather Watson have always aimed to create wines that emulate the great vineyards of Bordeaux. Established in 1973 it was one of the first five vineyards to be planted in Margaret River. Sourced entirely from the Woodlands vineyard the 2013 ‘Margaret’ is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 11% Malbec with maturation taking place in French oak for 18 months.

A beautifully balanced Cabernets of great finesse and elegance

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. On the nose fragrant blackcurrant and mulberry aromas lead the way over hints of cigar box, faint black olive, light bay leaf and spicy cedar. The palate is very fine and elegantly built with a restrained yet more than adequate level of richness. Perfectly ripened blackcurrant and mulberry flavours grace the palate with subtle infusions of bay leaf, black olive, tobacco and spicy cedar also present. Very fine grained perfectly integrated tannins complete the picture of this very stylish effort. Excellent length with a long and refined finish of blackcurrant, mulberry, faint bay leaf, subtle black olive and spicy cedar.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews….
A 78/11/11% blend of cabernet, merlot and malbec matured in French oak for 18 months. A Margaret River classic, albeit with a niche all of its own given by the juicy freshness of the palate, and by its effortless length and finish. Simply beautiful. Drink by 2033.
