Other Reviews….
A straight Shiraz from an 1898 Central vineyard planting. It’s plain I don’t like the Shiraz based Wendouree wines near as much as the Cabernet and Malbec ones. I think Shiraz is a lesser grape than Cabernet in the Clare anyway, and yet, the clamor seems to be for Shiraz. Who knows.

Red berries, aniseed, polished cedar, gum leaf, perfume. Medium bodied, fresh almost jellied red fruit, strong tannin – feels sinewy and vibrant – with chalky dusty pucker of tannin to close it out. Has excellent length and makes itself known. Aftertaste is all aniseed and dried herb. Needs some time to come around.
