2013 Wendouree Cabernet Sauvignon
Other Reviews….
Tasting the ‘Bordeaux family’ from Wendouree tonight and it’s quite a contrast, and always is, to taste the straight Cabernet alongside the Cabernet Malbec. The (in)famous Fluffy Hair Adair has been dropping a full set of Wendouree around to me for the last five years now, for which I’m very thankful. So we have 2009-2013 reviewed on the site, complete.
Lighter, and more lithe and sinewy than the Cabernet Malbec, which is interesting. Redcurrant, blackcurrant, aniseed, cedar and an almost mentholated and twiggy top note, along with some floral perfume. Medium to full bodied, very firm grip and vice-like tannin, though they are ripe and almost chamois-like in texture, crisp and sure acidity, fan of tannin on a long redcurrant and black jelly bean laced finish. Very long term, though I suspect the signature Wendouree gum leaf scent will ride high throughout its life. Drink 2025 - 2045.
