2013 Voyager Estate Old Block V9 Cabernet Sauvignon

From vines planted in 1978 this wine was matured in French oak (50% new and 50% two year old) for a period of 18 months. Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Perfumed aromas of red and black currant, mulberries and violets are trailed by dusty vanillin cedar, spicy tobacco and subtle dried herb notes. Medium bodied the palate showcases perfectly ripened black and red currant fruit with some ripe mulberry also chiming in over a back drop of pencilly vanillin cedar, subtle earthy tobacco characters, bay leaf and spice. Very fine grained, seamlessly integrated tannins. Outstanding length with a very long conclusion of ripe red and black currant fruit, mulberries, pencilly vanillin cedar, light earth, spicy tobacco and bay leaf.
