Totally opaque black dark red core with a deep dark red hue. Pronounced black cherry and liquorice aromas meld into smoky cedar elements with some scorched earth and pepper ensuing. Medium bodied with an elegant feel, flavours of black cherries and liquorice intermesh with earth, scorched cedar, leather and spicy pepper. Dry, fine grained tannins. Savoury aftertaste of liquorice, black cherries, scorched earth, smoky cedar, leather and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years.

Other Reviews….
Four estate-grown clones, plus 7.5% viognier crushed and fermented together, 30 days post-ferment maceration, matured for 12 months in French barriques (30% new). Has impressive textural and flavour complexity to its bouquet and medium-bodied palate; the new French oak has been absorbed into the fabric of the wine, as have the tannins. Mario Marson at his best. Drink by 2033.
