2013 Ulithorne Frux Frugis Shiraz

‘Frux Frugis’ is Latin for ‘fruit of the earth’ and is sourced from old vines planted in 1969 with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 20 months. Impenetrable inky black core with a very deep bright dark red black hue. Blackberry, liquorice and dark plum aromas fill the nostrils followed by hints of dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spice. Rich and velvety, yet with a sense of refinement the palate is a powerful expression of blackberries, liquorice and dark plum in combination with some subtle inky earth characters, vanillin cedar and spicy pepper wrapped up in a sumptuous, opulently textured mouthfeel. The tannin structure solid and robust enough to with stand the volumes of fruit yet velvety in appearance. Very long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, subtle dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spice.
