2013 Thorn Clarke Sandpiper Shiraz

An excellent entry level Barossa Shiraz that over delivers.

Totally opaque inky black dark red colour with a deep dark red black hue. Showing good aromatic intensity the nose features aromas of liquorice, blackberries and black cherries over some smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper. Medium to full bodied, possessing excellent richness and a robust structure the palate has flavours of liquorice and ripe black cherries alongside some blackberries with underlying smoky dried meats, vanillin cedar and a peppery finish. Meaty textural feel. Dry, slightly chewy finish with firmish but nonetheless fine grained tannins. Excellent length with a long blackpepper, liquorice, black cherry and smoky dried meats aftertaste.
