Sourced from a single vineyard this wine was created as a tribute Ben Schild who began the family’s long association with winemaking and viticulture. The 2013 vintage was fermented in small open fermenters before being matured in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak for 24 months and then underwent a further 24 months maturation in bottle prior to release.

Superb inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense aromas of liquorice, ripe blackberries and dark chocolate rise out of the glass with underlying toasty vanillin oak, earth and blackpepper. Rich, bold and very concentrated, luscious blackberry, liquorice and black cherry flavours flood the mouth over subtlety toasted vanillin oak, dried meats and spicy pepper. There’s an opulent meaty like mouthfeel with a muscular tannin structure largely cloaked by the richness of fruit. Long conclusion of spice, ripe black cherries, liquorice, blackberries, dried meats, vanillin cedar and blackpepper.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 14.5%
