Aged in French oak hogsheads for 12 months. Dense pitch black core with a deep dark red black hue. Intense aniseed, ripe black cherry and blackberry aromas lead the way followed by smoky vanillin cedar, fennel, earth and blackpepper notes. The weighty palate is awash with liquorice and ripe blackberry fruit which is underscored by toasty vanillin oak, earthy fennel and pepper. Chewy tannins have a grainy feel and impart some grip to the finish. Good drive with a long peppery aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
From a single vineyard at 440m; 12 days on skins, matured for 12 months in French hogsheads. Interesting wine, marching to the beat of its own drum, spice and cedar joining the medium-bodied fruit, retrofitting it with a gently warm, savoury thrust before fruit returns in charge of the aftertaste.
