2013 Kilchoman Single Cask #728 Mezcal Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Bottled for AWAS

In 2019, the Scotch Whisky Association (the trade body of the Scotch whisky industry), changed the regulations on cask maturation of Scotch whisky. It was a response to a trend towards ageing whisky in increasingly exotic casks to offer consumers new taste experiences. Kilchoman was one of the earliest to take advantage of the change. Cask #728 was exclusively bottled for AWAS, (the Australian Whisky Appreciation Society), peated to 50ppm, and matured for over 7 years in a bourbon barrel before being finished in a Mezcal cask for 11 months. In our experience, peat smoke and mezcal combine surprisingly well! Of sister cask #828, whiskyfun.com commented "I'm not hundred percent sure I found the mezcal, to be honest, but it is an excellent Scottish-Mexican drop."
