A powerful Beechworth Shiraz filled with a meaty complexity and savoury rich fruits that are amply supported by firm ripe chewy tannins.

Initially this was the wine made in the joint venture between Peter Graham, Rick Kinsbrunner, and Michel Chapoutier. Peter now solely produces this wine, with only tiny amounts kept for Australia. Magnificent impenetrable inky black colour with a deep dark purple black hue. An intense combination of black cherry, black olive and liquorice aromas float out of the glass followed by dried meats, smoky cedar and pepper. Medium to full bodied and very concentrated yet elegant with a dry chewy finish, the palate dishes up rich black cherry and liquorice flavours subtlety infused with black olives. Underlying smoked meats, spicy cedar and pepper follow on. Firmish but perfectly balanced tannins provide ample structure. Long peppery aftertaste of black cherries, liquorice, black olives, dried meats, smoky cedar and spice. A Northern Rhone lookalike.
Cellar 5-6 years.
