2013 Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir

Dalrymple’s Cottage Block is an area well sheltered from the cool North Westerly winds and therefore has a slightly warmer microclimate than other blocks within the vineyard. The wine was matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for a period of nine months.

Semi translucent dark red colour with a crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of violets intermixed with dark cherries and strawberries are overlaid by anise, lightly toasted cedar and some meatiness with spice end notes. Light weight but generously flavoured and possessing an excellent power wave the palate features flavours of ripe dark cherries and strawberries with underlying spicy cedar, a subtle meatiness and a hint of anise. Supplely textured mouthfeel with velvety tannins. Long conclusion of ripe black cherries, dark strawberries, cedar, delicate anise, some meatiness and spice.
Delicious now but will also drink well over the next 5-6 years.
