2013 Carn Mor Strictly Limited Aberlour 9 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Full-term matured in ex-oloroso barrels, this is a solid example of the distillery's house style that contrasts official bottlings at a lower proof. Chocolatey throughout with hints of stout, ovaltine and orange spice cake, the sherry is well-handled and the wood avoids being too astringent or drying. Soft, furry tannins, malt extract and a fluffy texture extend the sponge cake feeling. The young malt gets a good showing. Tasted from a 20ml sample. Distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2022, 1798 bottles were produced. 47.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the importers... The nose is rich stewed fruits, of sultanas, plums and orange citrus, with a cinnamon and nutmeg spice note in the back. On the pallet the spice and fruit notes sit comfortably over a layer of oak and a forest floor earthiness. A medium-long warming finish with fruits and spice both lasting.
