2013 Bowen Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
Magnificent depth of colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core and a deep dark purple black hue. The nose offers up aromas of cassis, black cherries and liquorice with a slight inkiness also present over a spicy vanillin oak background. With its full body and rich concentration the palate takes on a Shiraz like personality delivering mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant and liquorice which dominate over inky characters, vanillin cedar, faint earth and spice. Solidly built tannins provide the wine with its firm structure and impart some chewiness on the finish. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, liquorice, subtle bay leaf and spicy cedar. A Coonawarra Cabernet big on richness, concentration and structure.
