A youthful Woodcutters Shiraz that delivers it’s trademark richness and velvety texture.

The name Woodcutter’s stems from owner/winemaker David Powell’s several years spent working the Scottish Highlands as a lumberjack in the Torbreck forest. ‘This is the kind of red I liked to drink with a hearty meal after a hard day’s work in the woods" says Powell. He understands how to make a wine that's the perfect ‘knock off’ drink - unpretentious, eminently satisfying and priced to allow for regular indulgence. The fruit for the Woodcutter’s Shiraz is sourced from hand harvested and hand tended plots throughout the Northwestern Barossa Valley and fermentation takes place in a combination of cement, wooden and stainless steel vats for 6-7 days. It is then basket pressed to well seasoned hogsheads and French oak foudres for 12 months and bottled without fining or filtration. Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple black hue. The nose reveals aromas of dark plum, ripe blackberry and inky liquorice followed by some confectionary and light spice. Full bodied, rich and opulently textured in traditional Woodcutters style the palate delivers plush ripe blackberry and liquorice flavours followed by some dark plum, subtle toasty oak, spice and pepper. Silky smooth beautifully integrated tannins. Excellent length with long ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and spice aftertaste.
