Impenetrable midnight black heart with a deep dark red black hue – the colour holding up exceptionally well. Expressive liquorice and blackberry scents spring from the glass complimented by vanillin cedar, earth, leather and blackpepper notes. Rich ripe blackberry, black cherry and liquorice fruits flood the full bodied palate, supported by a sturdy tannin structure that provides underlying muscle and definition. Opulent yet brawny in its feel with spicy vanillin cedar, earth, leather and pepper characteristics layered across the back half. Robust and powerful it finishes long, chewy and deeply fruited.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews….
The deep purple-crimson colour semaphores serious intent, thoroughly intimidating when you realise this is the fourth tier of *** shiraz releases; the intimidation continues with a black fruits, tar and licorice bouquet of what is an unashamedly full-bodied shiraz needing to be left alone until '20. Drink by 2039.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Shiraz *** offers a gorgeous perfume of violets, aniseed and dark chocolate over a core of cassis, ripe blackberries and cedar plus a hint of spice box. Medium-bodied, fine, elegant and tightly wound on the palate, the youthful black berry and spice flavors have a great backbone of firm, ripe tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing long if still very primary. It should reward cellaring. Drink 2017-2027.
