2012 Gioiello Estate Old Hill Chardonnay
Bright straw colour with pale gold edges and a watery hue. Lifted aromas of ripe peaches laced with honeycomb overlay citrus, light butterscotch and toast. Rich mouthfilling palate with a creamy textural feel delivering flavours of ripe peaches and apricots infused with honeycomb and toast over citrusy nougat and a touch of spice. Dry finish with well balanced acidity and an aftertaste of honeycomb, ripe peaches, toast, lightly roasted almonds and spicy nougat.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc 13.4%
Other Reviews…
Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed and fermented in French oak and extended maceration with batonnage has resulted in a complex bouquet and elegant palate; the length is excellent, but given the age of the vineyard one looks for a little more intensity. Drink by 2020.
