2012 Escarpment Chardonnay

Barrel fermented and aged on lees for 11 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. The nose displays fresh white peach and citrus aromas which intermingle with honeycomb, biscuity oak and faint nougat. Light to medium weight and despite its bottle age the palate remains remarkably fresh with flavours of nectarine and lemon butter followed by some bees wax, citrus and spice. Elegant with a clean dry finish and a faint creaminess offset against bright acidity. Aftertaste of nectarine, lemon butter, bees wax, subtle cashew and faint spicy nougat.
Cellar 3-4 years.
