2012 Edradour Cabernet Sauvignon Cask Finish 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Evidently, Edradour feel that their heavy, oily spirit pairs well with European wine wood as there are a slew of diverse releases that do just that. Here we have a first-fill Cabernet maturation offering a rich, tannic, fruit-forward profile highlighting dark fruits, spices and chocolate. Three casks were sourced from the Michael Eppan winery in Northern Italy, producing an outturn of 1093 bottles. 48.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... [Notes from a sister release, casks 705, 707, 708] Not had a great many drams from this distillery, but the whisky works really well with the wine cask - it isn't overpowered at all. This is simply an enjoyable whisky - well worth getting hold of one and supping it... The mouthfeel is good - a lovely, soft texture - the taste is good with a nice hint of red wine, but without any acidity or heaviness - there is a delicate spice that creeps in.
